About the Course
Finally feel at home in the siddur.
According to Pew, only 52% of American Jews can read Hebrew. This course, developed by the Jewish Learning Institute and taught by Rabbi Menachem Cunin of Chabad Wilshire Corridor, was created to close that gap in just five sessions. No background or prior experience needed. Open to the public, no affiliation required.
How It Works
1
Lessons 1–2: The Letters
The first two lessons cover the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, using a visual memory method that makes each one easy to recognize, and hard to forget.
2
Lessons 3–5: Vowels & Full Words
The final three lessons introduce the vowels and teach you to read full words, the same words you'll meet in the siddur.
What's Included
Five weekly classesTuesday evenings, 60 minutes each

Many people feel lost in synagogue simply because they don't know how to read Hebrew. This class fixes that, whether you're starting from zero, or you've ever thought, "I wish I could read Hebrew."
*Note: This course focuses on reading Hebrew (learning to sound out the words) rather than translation.
